Taking full advantage of a Supermarket Salad Bar

Whole Foods Market : Phillips Crossing Grand Opening

It’s summer and I love when I can tag along with my husband during this time. As I have mentioned before we are trying to eat healthier while still being frugal. This is a combination harder to keep in balance when we are not home. On our last trip we met the Salad Bar at a supermarket! It made it so attractive, convenient and inexpensive to us to prepare healthy meals on a dime.

Earlier this season we had the opportunity to stay in one of those suites with kitchenettes and were able to prepare pasta dishes and the like by using just enough of the veggies we needed for that meal instead of having to buy a full weeks supply. You know, is so much easier when we can buy just a handful of cherry tomatoes than the whole tub, just half a cup of feta or parmesan cheese than buying a whole pound.

Looking at the salad bar the same way we look at a farmers market we are able to cook delicious meals, at a low price, and above all healthy.

Tell us, do you meal plan even when on vacation?

Comments

  1. Yes. I meal plan when the kids are with us. It can tend to be a bit expensive so, we make sure we budget for the trip

I need to do a better meal planning job at home but when we are out of town I budget for almost everything. Thank you for stopping by!
