Last week, me and about 25+ Latina bloggers were invited to travel to Miami for General Mills re-launch of their Spanish website Que Rica Vida. Most of the ladies I had met via Twitter already so it felt like we knew each other already… at least by our Twitter handle. Hats off to General Mills for such a well planned event.
Wednesday, was the dinner where we enjoyed the music of the Damas de Jalisco for the first time. The mariachi was excellent! At dinner, we got to listen to Ursula Mejía-Meglar and others about General Mills and its involvement with the community through programs like Box Tops for Education and the Yoplait Pink Caps program.
Thursday night was the grand event where in a talk show format Ursula and Karla Martínez from Despierta America co-hosted the event. Angelica Vale, which is always fun to hear talked about Progresso soups and at the end made a couple of imitations. Mrs. Vale was brilliant! Next was the puertorican actress Adamari López who talked about her battle with breast cancer. She is 39 years – just a couple of months older than I – and she put into perspective how much we need to take care of ourselves.
The highlight of the night was being able to do a spontaneous Q&A session with General Mills management regarding Latina mommy bloggers, My Blog Spark and how to reach better our community. It was a light and assertive talk which I hope it continues in the future.
It was such an honor to be included in this group of Top Latina Bloggers and kudos to Manny Ruiz (the Papi Blogger) for taking this picture with us.
